Spending the might in Gatlinburg then tomorrow starting the push out of the smokies. Here is a pic from Clingman’s Dome parking lot. The tower was still cloudy, but tomorrow is supposed to be clear…. hopefully it is!
After I leave Clingman’s Dome, I hit 200 miles!
The first few days in the smokies were wet, but looking ahead, if the weather people are accurate, it will be nice the rest of my time here! Which is perfect, because tomorrow around noon ish I will be at Clingman’s Dome. If it is clear like they predict, I will have a great view from the highest point on the AT!
No pictures yet in the smokies, it’s been foggy. But I have a few clips of video for the next upload. Video will probably be split into two parts and uploaded in Hot Springs, otherwise it will be a long video.
14 miles to do today, so enough babble, time to get some food in me and get walking!
At Fontana Dam taking a day off. It’s nice that staying here is free, but holy crap food is expensive here.
Anyways, here’s some pics.
The week ahead looks wet. Hitting Fontana Dam tomorrow then the Smokies!
I have a few pics to share, but signal isn’t playing nice at the moment but I will post them soon.
So I probably won’t be doing text posts often. I am finding that I have 3G signal at most camps, but the website doesn’t load. So, I will have to post when I have 4G.
My knees are sore, but I’ve talked to a few trail angels that are past thru hikers, and they suggested changing how I put everything in my pack, but the location where I am sore is to be expected at this time. It’s because my body is still going, “WTF are you doing, dude?”
I don’t have video ready yet, and looking ahead, I won’t have wifi until Gatlinburg if I stop there, or after I finish the smokies. There’s no free wifi in fontana dam area, unfortunately.
Until then, here are a few pics!
Franklin, NC has terrible wifi. I ate a gig of data because the wifi kept dropping.
Been a while, but signal hasn’t been great. But, I am in Franklin, NC at the hotel. So, here are some pics, and the video will be uploaded soon.
This is Steve. Steve is a tired pup from all the hiking, but a sweet pup.
When I went into Hiawassee I was able to upload!
