Purifying Water on a Hike – 3 Common Methods

When you are out on the trail, you need to clean your water. There are many things in water out in the wilderness that can harm humans. In this video we go over ways to clean your water to make it safe to drink.

The three ways we go over are:

-The time tested method of boiling water. Boiling water has been used throughout hundreds of years, and can successfully kill anything in the water. One bummer is you have to wait for the water to cool down based on the container you use to store your water.

-Chemical treatment such as Potable Aqua (Iodine) tablets: https://amzn.to/37oytTm Tablets are great because they do kill most harmful bacteria in the water, but you do need to wait for a while. Follow the directions on the packaging, based on your choice!

-Using filters such as the Sawyer Squeeze: https://amzn.to/35kmraM The Sawyer Squeeze is probably the most popular filter out there

All in all, water does need to be cleaned while out on the trail. Check out the video for a more in depth overview!
